Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan assures that in recent years, Armenia has almost solved the social and housing issues for the refugees. “All the hostels, where the majority of them were placed, was privatized and given to them. Today, they are integrated into our society and do not have such problems like language, education and culture,” said Minister of Diaspora, today, at the Ministry. Today, a closed discussion was held at the Ministry on the subject of Azerbaijani refugees’ problems.

According to the minister, the 27th anniversary of the Sumgait tragedy is upcoming, and as a result of this tragedy, 400,000 people were forcibly removed from the Azerbaijani SSR, just for the fact that they belonged to a different nationality and religion. “We accepted 400,000 refugees, when we were in war and in blockade and Armenia was in a serious situation because of the earthquake”. She also said that they are planning to create structures and organizations for the refugees from the Azerbaijani SSR, as well as to convoke a respective conference in Armenian in the fall. Hranush Hakobyan also said that in one of the American states, one girl expelled from Baku had become a lawyer and published her information and what she has seen and has reached to her about the massacre, and this American state has recognized the genocide and people there understood who the Turks are.
