European anti-racist organization EGAM`s member, Paul Morin took part in the commemoration ceremonies held in Istanbul on April 24. The organization’s executive director Paul Mori said to “Aravot.am” that the denial is a continuation of a racist ideology.
-“It is said that Genocide kills twice, first when people are killed, second: kills the silence. Turkey has remained silent for a long time on the matter of Genocide. The problem of Genocide is more than racism in Turkey”.
Paul Mori says that the Turkish government is increasingly becoming a single country that denies the Armenian Genocide. According to Paul Morin.
-“Every year more and more is growing number of inhabitants in Turkey which recognize the Armenian Genocide and talk about it, but in villages and small towns, people do not care about this issue. As we see more and more countries recognize the Armenian Genocide, more and more Turkish people are recognizing the Armenian Genocide, talking about it and reveal their roots. Turkey`s denial policy is becoming ridiculous and isolated. I think it will not last long, as that lies grow up, they worked ten years ago, but now they do not work”.

According to him, the Armenian Genocide commemoration events organized in 2015 had great success.
-“I am very impressed. Several countries have recognized the Armenian genocide, despite the enormous pressure that was exerted by Turkey. In Turkey I felt that was the hundredth anniversary. Everyone knew about it, everyone was talking about it and everybody knew that Gallipoli was a joke. Civil society was able to organize large events, two years ago it was impossible to organize. But there is a problem, what will happen next year? Next year there will not be any media attention, so many people will not come, Kim Kardashyan will not come either, but we still have much work to do”.
He believes that the Armenian people should go and participate in the commemoration ceremonies held in Istanbul.
-“We do this every year, here it is not a problem, but it is a problem in Istanbul. Turkish civil society needs to communicate with the youth of Armenia: the youth must come to Istanbul on April 24 to participate in the commemoration ceremonies of us.”
