The delegation of Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation composed of Co-Founder Ruben Vardanyan, CEO Armen Gevorgyan and Deputy CEO Sergey Tantushyan took part in EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) Annual Meeting and Business Forum in Tbilisi.

Co-Founder of RVVZ and IDeA Foundations Ruben Vardanyan was invited as the speaker of the business forum’s “The (R)evolutionary Road: Company Stories Made Real” main discussion panel.

The discussion opened by President of the EBRD Sir Suma Chakrabarti was dedicated to the development of private companies and the role they play in the economy and society of countries. Leaders of dynamically developing companies, investors and businessmen from various countries took part in it.
The main topic of the discussion referred to current business challenges and development prospects.

In his speech, Ruben Vardanyan touched upon qualities corporate success requires. Asked about the secret of entrepreneurship, he said: “When it is your own business you always need to be on top of things and take initiative because no one else will care about your business as much as you do.”

He also said: “Core skills for modern day entrepreneurs are: don’t be afraid to leave your comfort zone, don’t be afraid to fail and start again, don’t be afraid to deal with things you don’t know anything about because by the time you get all the information it will be too late.”

Asked what was needed for further progress Ruben Vardanyan said: “Of course, finance is important, but it is not everything. Without vision and dedication no business can survive. If you do not know why you want to sell a product to a customer, how would he?”

He also answered the questions of the discussion participants.
Within the framework of the forum, the delegation of IDeA Foundation had meetings with the leaders of various organizations and companies. In particular, the meeting with World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Henry Kerali focused on issues related to cooperation within the framework of the programs carried out by the Bank and IDeA Foundation.
IDeA’s delegation also had a meeting with Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania. The parties discussed the reconstruction of Saint Gevorg Church, renovation of the adjacent territory as well as issues related to the church opening ceremony. The Municipality and IDeA agreed to cooperate to resolve issues emerging during the restoration works.
