Many of the Diaspora Armenian participants to the Pan-Armenian Games refused to stay in the Gyumri

Two sports of the 6th Pan-Armenian Summer Games: futsal and football, will be held from August 2 to 7 in Gyumri. Today, the futsal has already launched. Gyumri has hosted Australia’a Sydney and Argentine’s LaPlata cities teams and is still looking forward to a great number of Diaspora Armenians from Turkey, Lebanon, Ukraine, Russia, Iran, and Germany.

Head of the Culture and Sports Department of Shirak regional administration, Vachik Vardanyan, in the conversation with us told that this event under the program of the Pan-Armenian Games is being held in Gyumri for the first time, for which he is extremely happy and they are prepared to the high level. The Gyumri Municipality, with the funds of the community, has renovated the sports school gym after Aram Sargsyan to hold the 6th Pan-Armenian Summer Games futsal sport here. According to the official, the playground of the Gyumri Academy of Armenia’s Football Federation is also unique with its facilities. As mentioned by Vachik Vardanyan, not all the teams have expressed willingness to stay in Gyumri, although the competitions are held every day, but most of them want to go back and forth to the capital. “It is up to them, no one can impose on their will, according to preliminary information, only 3 out of 9 participating teams have expressed willingness to stay, and these are: Tehran, Moscow and Kiev.”
