October 23,2015 18:55

The NA RPA MP Khosrov Harutyunyan is waiting for the launching of new EU-Armenia possible relations, which is scheduled by the year-end. These relations, according to the parliamentarian, will open broad opportunities for cooperation not only in the economic, but also political sphere. “The goal is to try renewing the EU Deep and Comprehensive Association Agreement under the new terms. The agreements formed in the result of other negotiation process come to complement Armenia’s economic capacity for increasing the cooperation with our European partners. Institutionally, we will have a chance to be improved, this refers to the establishment of democratic institutions and the preparation and organization of economic decision-making processes,” said Mr. Harutyunyan.

In his opinion, the integration system will create favorable conditions for the European investors to be able to make investments in Armenia. “Armenia’s economic future is dependent on the ability to bringing in competitive offer in the foreign market. We can form these abilities if we have foreign investors. The relations with the EU under the renewed agreement create serious preconditions for the foreign investors to use Armenia for producing their own product cheaper and selling it in the same European market. We will become for Europe not only a country that exports mining concentrate but also a country that intensively cooperates with Europe in other spheres.”

The NA MP connects the formation of Armenia’s new relations with the EU by Armenia’s consistent political behavior. “Not the “either…or” but “and…and” produced a result, and in May this year, in the Riga summit, our European partners welcomed Armenia’s decision to be topical. Even Chancellor Merkel said that they respect the decision of Armenia. In the same Summit, it was stated that the Eastern Partnership is not directed at the issue of isolating Russia or against Russia.” Mr. Harutyunyan believes that Armenia’s agreements signed with the EU and EaEU will complement each other and will not interfere. “If you wish, Armenia can become the platform where the Eurasian Union and the EU will not fight or confront but both will become the platform where they can have a sound competition.”
