“New Times” party leader Aram Karapetyan believes that downing of the Russian aircraft in Syria is not Turkey’s handiwork but the West’s. According to Mr. Karapetyan, it was clear that all of that was organized, it was also evidenced by the fact that preparatory meetings were held the day before the incident. Erdoğan was conveying meetings actively. Aram Karapetyan notes that after the meeting of G20 the West included in the NATO responds to Russia’s actions for the first time after the incidents in Georgia and Ukraine. “This time a part of the West said, let us also initiate a power action as the base of Putin’s politics is the power action.”
Mr. Karapetyan presents another argument as to why Turkey is not the author of the Russian plane downing. “Yesterday, in the morning, the aircraft was downed, Obama and Hollande met. Previously, Hollande was talking about establishing a coalition with Russia, while yesterday, there was no hint of it.” Now, Aram Karapetyan is mostly interested in what Turkey will obtain as a result for entering into this provocation. “The most important issue for us related to Karabakh and other matters is what Turkey has already negotiated.”
