Deputy Minister of Diaspora of Republic of Armenia Mr. Serge Srabionian visited Mesrobian Armenian Catholic High School on Arpil 27, 2016 together with the representative of Hamazkayin’s Lebanese regional branch Mr. Sevag Kendirjian.
The guest had arrived in Beirut to present a series of lectures on Armenian writers martyred in the Armenian Genocide and to visit the cultural and educational institutions of Lebanon’s Armenian community.
Mesrobian’s director Mr. Gregoire Kaloust welcomed the deputy minister and provided him with detailed information on Mesrobian’s history, development and pedagogical programmes.
Srabionian walked around the school, being greatly impressed with both its infrastructure and the atmosphere, in which students and professors interacted.
He stated that Mesrobian is in many aspects an exemplary model of an Armenian school, which has successfully assumed the task of bringing up generations – patriotic and at the same time coming up to the requirements of the modern world. Upon saying this, Srabionian handed a CD about the Armenian Noravank monastery to the director.
During his visit, the deputy minister met with the 10th &11th graders, presented to them Taniel Varujan’s Heart of the Race and drew their attention to the messages which make the poem topical for today’s readers, too.
