A 15-year-old boy is suspected of two assaults over the US Peace Corps volunteer in the city of Ijevan. According to the statement of the US Peace Corps volunteer, the first assault was on June 10 and the second – on June 15. Prosecutor of Tavush marz, Armen Marukhyan, informed us that after the first assault, the volunteer has not applied to the law enforcement. The 15-year-old resident of Ijevan city was administered a supervision as a preventive measure. A criminal case has been launched by the Criminal Code, Article 175, Paragraph 4, clause 2 (“Banditry committed by using a weapon or other item as a weapon”).
The US Peace Corps volunteer is working as a lecturer in one of the Ijevan educational institutions. The criminal case was investigated by the RA Investigative Committee of Tavush Marz. We learned that the proceeding of given criminal case was dismissed because of the absence of corpus delicti.
