On September 1, the International Day of Knowledge, over 40.000 school-age children for the first time entered schools in Armenia, head of the General Education Department of the Ministry of Education and Sciences Narine Hovhannisian told “Armenpress”.
“The final number of both pupils and students will be clear later”, she said.
The preliminary number of the school-children already exceeds the number for 2015 which was 39.246.
She informed that on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, a number of ceremonies will be held on September 1.

There are 1430 schools in Armenia, of which 800 have less than 300 pupils, and nearly 400 schools have less than 500 pupils.
