On 20 September a solemn awarding ceremony took place at the Artsakh Republic President’s residence in connection with the 25th anniversary of the NKR proclamation.
President Sahakyan congratulated the awardees especially noting those compatriots who have always shown an invaluable support to the realization of large-scale projects in Artsakh having a special significance in the solution of socioeconomic issues. “Due to the active participation of these friends we managed to transform a number of key spheres of the economy, particularly health care, education, culture, industrial infrastructures, etc. These were projects required substantial material and financial means. The achievements we have today in these spheres, that do not yield to the leading states in their technical equipment and building conditions are also due to your contribution “, underlined Bako Sahakyan in his speech.
The President also paid a special tribute to the sportsmen who had shown excellent results in the 31st Summer Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro and were awarded with the NKR state awards noting that they had upheld the honor of the Armenian people and demonstrated patriotism, self-devotion, persistence and endurance worthy of a Motherland Defender. “We all were watching with great anxiety the moment when during the awarding ceremony Olympic champion Arthur Aleqsanyan ascended to the platform of honor with a photograph of Hero of Artsakh Robert Abajyan perished during the April war on his breast. It was a heroic and symbolic deed, which once again demonstrated to the whole world that the Armenian people are united and unified, our struggle and victories are common. We all are proud of you, your successes and victories”, noted Bako Sahakyan in his speech.
NKR National Assembly chairman Ashot Ghoulyan, prime-minister Arayik Haroutyunyan and other officials partook at the event.
