Only in Armenia …

October 25,2016 13:06

Recently, I read somewhere that the toughest thing among Armenians in Los Angeles is to say anything good about Armenia.  Naturally, there are hundreds of thousands of Armenians living there, most of whom have moved to the United States in the last 25 years.  The mental wounds and discomfort of these people have found their expression in the world perception.  Some of them have become deeply indifferent towards events going on in the homeland (which is the worst thing), while those who care not indifferent, they are highly negative not only about the government but also to the country.  In the virtual spaces, the sentiments of those leaving Armenia are dominant, in my opinion.

This thinking, which is common, of course, not only in Los Angeles but also in many other Armenian-populated places, also in Armenia, has interesting manifestations, which conventionally can be called “only in Armenia “.  In advertising texts, such phrases have a pronounced positive tone while in “offensive” texts – highly negative.

In our airport, a woman who had not received her luggage was complaining, “it is possible only in Armenia when the plane lands but the luggage has not arrived.”  Those who have at least the minimum experience of traveling will confirm that such thing happens not only in Armenia.  Or if someone has stabbed another person or fired a shot from the gun in the street, the response to it must mandatorily be as follows: “damn it, what has become this country, people are afraid to come out of their houses.”  For your information, in other countries, people also stab each other in the streets and shoot at each other, attack the police stations, loot the shops and ATMs.  If someone thinks that Armenia is the only one and unique in this sense, he is sadly mistaken.  Certainly, it is desirable not to see any crime committed in the street, but it seems to me that it is utopia.  Anyway, I must say that earthquakes floods tsunamis and hurricanes occur all over the world.  Snow falls in winter in many places of the world.  As far as I know, no snow falls in Los Angeles.

… Russian entrepreneur Ruben Vardanyan gave an interview with the “Mediamax” about the current situation in Armenia, in which he has frankly expressed his concerns.  Vardanyan thinks that the political and economic model, with which our country lives, has exhausted itself.  One can agree or disagree with this estimation but the main criticism that is presented in the virtual space against Ruben Vardanyan’s article is approximately the following: why there are no blasphemies in this article referring to the authorities.
