“In Yerevan strict punishments are to be imposed on the people engaged in illegal logging,” Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan announced during today’s tree planting in the central part of Nubarashen Administrative District.
As the Public Relations Department of the Yerevan Municipality informs Yerevan Municipality responds to each registered case within the framework of its liabilities submitting the cases to State Environmental Inspectorate, as well as to Prosecutor’s Office of Yerevan City.
“Unfortunately we still have such cases but we should also state that they have reduced. For instance, five years ago around 200 cases of illegal logging were registered annually, but nowadays this number have been reduced to 10-20. But for me even one such s case is unacceptable,” Taron Margaryan stressed calling upon everyone to join the efforts to fight this unacceptable phenomenon.
