National Security Service prevents drug trafficking at Yerevan Zvartnots Airport

Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) has prevented the entry of large quantities of drugs into the territory of Armenia from Turkey. As Panorama.am learnt from the press department at NSS, the preliminary investigation shows that RA citizen A. H. obtained narcotic drugs of “Cocaine” and “Methamphetamine” type in large amount on December 31, 2015 while being in the territory of Turkey and transported it to Armenia through Istanbul-Yerevan flights.

On January 3, 2017 NSS officers confiscated the drug right after custom processing in the red line.

On the base of the explicit crime, criminal case has been initiated according to the Point 1 of the Part 4 of the Article 267.1 and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 266 of the RA Criminal Code (Illegal transportation, turnover of narcotic drugs or psychotropic materials with the purpose of sale).

A.H. is under arrest. Preliminary investigation is ongoing. NSS says, necessary investigatory and operative-searching measures are taken to find possible accomplices.
