Battle of ‘Frontiks’

January 13,2017 13:10

There are many kings and feudalists in Armenia starting from the village mayors. In a normal country, the elected head of the community understands that he fulfills the obligations imposed on him by law on temporary base after which he will become an ordinary resident of the community. In Armenia, the village mayor is a “king”, the village belongs to him and he will do what he wants with the so-called viziers in his pocket who are usually his relatives.

But let’s look at the issue from a different angle. If tomorrow the Nor Geghi is renamed to “Frontikavan” or “Frontikakert”, with the resident of the community publicly protest and mock the narcissistic village mayor and would say, “Who are you? Can you also erect your statue in the center of the village?” There will be no such thing as Frontik’s posture does not hard the dignity of its village residents, many people do not care what is going on in their village while others are dependent on the village mayor. Naturally, in the narrow family circles, they will speak about the hardship of “this country” and “this nation”. They will talk about “general features”.

Well, now imagine that a few hundred “Frontik” and several dozens bigger “Front” are “working” in favor of the known political parties during the elections. They in the “kings” of their village, “neighborhood” and the region. Incidentally, it is not mandatory for them to distribute bribes at the moment of the elections. These people have already “looked” at the people several years ago, have done “good” to the people, have paid their “debts”, have mediated to the “tops”, solved problems, and distributed candies to the kindergartens. Some of them have even built churches. In short, they are people who care about others and are patriots, philanthropists, and even God-fearing. But most interestingly, these wonderful individuals are gathered in 3-4 political parties who will form the core of the future parliament.

The electoral campaign will take place in the following way. The oppositions will go to meet with the electorate and will recite their fiery speeches. They will be perceived by the audience very well, “Yes, damn them!”, “They cause only sufferings to these people”, “no country is left”, “no nation is left”, “rescue us from them.” Then the government officials will come (some of them are called an “opposition” but consists of the aforementioned philanthropist patriots,) and the same “Damn you!” shouters will again accept them very well. Each of them will approach these Frontiks and would say, “Bro king, can you solve the tuition fee of my child?” and similar hundred problems.

Without accepting the stance of a judge towards anyone, let us at least once state the reality no matter how bitter it may be.

To note, Frontik Tevosyan is the Mayor of Nor Geghi community. Recently he appeared in Armenian media because of an extraordinary step: he named Nor Geghi’s main street and musical school after himself. Frontik Tevosyan later commented his steps as a gift to his 65th and 70th birthdays.
