The Defense Army of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR) dismissed the claims by Azerbaijani Defense Ministry about the death of its serviceman, Fikrat Bashirov, allegedly killed in Armenian fire, saying the report “does not correspond reality.”
“We recommend the Azerbaijani side to find the cause of the serviceman’s death in interpersonal relations and lack of military discipline in the Azerbaijani army,” the ministry said in a statement, released on Monday.
The release goes on reading the Azerbaijani forces have continued intensive ceasefire violations along the entire Line of Contact between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan on the night of January 15-16, firing from 60 and 82 mortars along with firearms.
According to the source, more intensive violations came to the eastern and northeastern combat positions of the Karabakh Army, where 51 shells from 60 mm mortars and 3 shells from 82 mm mortars were fired.
