Armenia’s State Service for Food Safety discovers violations in 580 business operators during holidays

From the period of 23 December to 8 January 2017 the State Service for Food Safety (SSFS) carried out tours in 816 business operators. Today SSFS has summed up the results of the control visits.

In the period of 23 December to 8 January 2017 working groups set in Yerevan City and in all the regions of the republic paid control visits to trade centres, grocery stores and to meat markets.
Within the tightened supervision the fact of the compliance of the expiry date and required storage conditions for the foodstuff have been studied.
“Violations have been discovered in 580 business operators. Particularly sale of products without the appropriate labelling, inappropriate storing conditions, and sale of the meat products without corresponding veterinary expertise have been revealed. In all the discovered cases the food products and meat have been withdrawn from the market and necessary instructions were given to prevent such violations,” the statement released by the service reads.
Earlier the service reported about tightening supervision in trade centres, namely about carrying out control tours to the trade centres and certain grocery stores during the period of 23 December to 8 January 2017.
“In case of revealing violations the food with an expired date or the foodstuff kept in inappropriate conditions will immediately be withdrawn from the market and will be eliminated through the heads of business operators or other competent individuals,” the service reported.
Today’s statement provided no information on the elimination of those products.
