On January 18, the eighth round of negotiations over a new framework agreement between Armenia and the European Union was held in Yerevan. On the Armenian side the negotiation team was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Garen Nazarian, and on the European side by Luc Devigne, Director of Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and the OSCE of the European External Action Service.
The provisions of chapters on political issues, as well as the general, Institutional and Final chapters of the draft agreement were discussed. The sides have reached a mutual understanding on a number of issues.
Summarizing the negotiations the sides also exchanged information on the results of ongoing discussions over chapters on sectoral and trade issues and settled the dates of the next round of negotiations to be held in Brussels.
