On January 31, agreements on the fulfillment of orders for theme-based academic research for the year 2017 were signed between the RA Ministry of Diaspora and partnering academic organizations during a solemn ceremony held at the RA Ministry of Diaspora and attended by Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Derderian.
In her opening remarks, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan expressed her greetings to the gathered and particularly stated the following: “All the research in the fields of law, linguistics, genocideology, historical sciences and research on the Diaspora, which we have been ordering for a long time now, are crucial for developing the strategy of the Ministry and for developing the strategy on working with the Armenian communities of the Diaspora in the right way. I think the topics have been selected in the right way.” The Minister presented the topics of the ordered studies and attached to the study of the experiences of other countries with Diasporas, including Iran, Israel, Turkey, Azerbaijan, etc.
Among the participants of the signing ceremony were Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA) Ashot Melkonian; Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the NAS RA Rupen Safrastian; Director of the Institute of Language of the NAS RA Victor Katvalian; Director of the Institute of Literature of the NAS RA Vartan Devrigian; Pro-Rector of Yerevan State University Rupen Margosian; Pro-Rector of Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences Tsolag Agopian; Advisor of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia Kevork Tanielian; Dean of the Faculty of History at Yerevan State University Edik Minasian; Director of Noravank Scientific and Educational Foundation Gagik Harutyunian; Director of the “Center for Research on Western Armenian Issues” Scientific-Research Foundation Haigazun Alvrtsian, as well as Turkologists, genocide experts and lawyers.
The attendees exchanged views on the effectiveness of the program, the need for research and the applicability of the results.

The Advisor to the Prime Minister stated that serious and multifaceted research is very important and is a priority for the development of new and current approaches to implementation of the state policy. Minister Hranush Hakobyan stressed the fact that the ordered studies serve as the pivot for developing new approaches and raising new questions.
