It is simply impossible to write every day about the pre-election situation and alliances’ in-and-out. One needs to have an iron health to keep the brain busy with these exclusive intrigues one and a half more months. Today, I want to deviate from this subject and attract your attention on another, in my opinion, important issue.
As I have repeatedly said that I do not share the Armenian people’s common admiration for the activities of “Sasna Tsrer”. Holding an armed attack on the police regiment, keeping a hostage, in my opinion, is not justified by any noble purposes and any nation-saving rhetoric. Moreover, attacking the police surrounding the occupied regiment, or breaking this chain by force also does not fit in my understanding of the state order. Yes, the history can justify and glorify all this and make a myth. This is what we call a history: they can erect a statue of a person and then destroy it, take out the corpse from the grave, burn it and then erect a statue again. But I am living today and here and as to what will happen 50 years from now I cannot say.
“Bread bringing” Arthur Sargsyan is not legend for me nor an example to educate the youth. Nevertheless, arresting him for two months again does not fit into any legal and moral standards. Our law enforcement system is still in the “Soviet” period, it seems to the representatives of this system that their goal is not to prevent the crime and if fail to prevent, to reveal but to punish and take a revenge. The person should be detained in the case if he being in freedom can affect the investigative body. For example, if a minister or a parliamentarian is ever arrested, then it makes sense for him to be kept in a detention facility because it is very likely that he will try to get rid of the responsibility through his “brotherhood”. Arthur Sargsyan, naturally, does not have such leverage. The investigation given this circumstance and Arthur’s serious health problems, they decided to release him by changing the measure of restraint with a signature not to leave the city. But perhaps they were thinking that he should not express his opinion and be silent as a thank you note. Irrespective of who agrees with his expressed opinion and who does not, such an approach, in my opinion, is inhumane and unjust.
… One can sympathize with this or that party, one may wander over months between various alliances, one can enter and leave any government and opposition party every other minute. The only thing that is not worth doing is to lose the human description.
