During the meeting with journalists at the “Article 3” press club, the ANC Vice-president Levon Zurabyan clarified that the “peace program” for the solution of the Karabakh conflict presented by the “Congress-PPA” alliance during the election campaign meetings is based on the Madrid principles, “It is negotiated by authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the co-chairs are guarantors for it.”
Recall that this option for the solution of the Karabakh conflict implies several stages: handover of 5 regions by the Armenian side, the return of refugees, deployment of peacekeepers. As to exactly which lands for handover is the matter about, Levon Zurabyan recommended reading the declassified document where you can find the answers to all questions. Levon Zurabyan said that if Azerbaijan agrees to sign a peace treaty with the Armenian side by this option, the NKR obtains an international recognition, “All the elections in the NKR will be legal, the NKR will have the chance to be legitimately in touch with the international community, make trade… we are suggesting a program of keeping the lands. Those who claim to preserve the “status quo” are busy with the handover of the lands.” Avetis Avagyan, an ANC member, the head of Levon Ter-Petrosian’s office, noted that it is not correct to think that Azerbaijan is invulnerable and can go against the international public opinion, “We believe that Azerbaijan does not have such opportunities. If it goes against, it will face serious challenges.”
