“The Madrid principles are currently unfeasible. The approach of the Armenian side is a bit less while the approach of the Azerbaijani side is almost denying. In this context, they are unfeasible,” said political scientist Sergey Minasyan at the “Tesaket” press club, referring to the RA first President, leader of the “Congress-PPA” Alliance Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s recent interview in which he claimed the necessity of the fulfilment of the concession option for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the “Madrid principles”.
“Ter-Petrosian’s speech was more rhetoric, he was trying to justify the situation in 1998. He understands very well that his mentioned option is infeasible because we have an unreliable partner on the other side of the border. Azerbaijan is not ready to accept the Madrid principles,” said Sergey Minasyan expressing his conviction. According to the political scientist, it does not matter what provisions the first president is putting forward, “It was a pre-election approach which pursued a goal to be different from all other political forces.”
