“Agramunt has to resign”: Flyers of this plot are distributed in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
Parliamentarians are inclined that during the last day of the Spring session Pedro Agramunt will leave his seat. Parallelly, the PACE Statutory Committee proceeds with the discussions on the provision of the transparency of PACE operations and in this context, the report suggesting corruption exclusion mechanisms. This time a GRECO specialist was invited to the discussion of the report.
The discussion was closed to the media. We asked the member of the Armenian Delegation in PACE, the participant of the discussion Naira Karapetyan, what precise suggestions have been made particularly relative to the control of PACE members to exclude corruption manifestations. She replied: “The suggestions mainly refer to the restriction of statements, gift declarations, the restrictions over cost reports, as well as the legal formulation of lobbying within the Assembly to differ positive from negative. However, such important issues remain open as, for example, the control of the conflicts of interests of the reporter, or, for instance, the further destiny of already accepted reports in case of its incompliance and disclosure of the reporter’s abuse.”
Recall that PACE has already made a decision to create an independent body which will conduct investigations on corruption manifestations.
