“Yelq” city council candidate, bloc’s spokesman Tigran Avinyan addressed the mayoral candidate Nikol Pashinyan’s promise to build at least one metro station if he is elected as the Yerevan city mayor. He gave explanations on how the bloc will find financial means.
“The construction of the station should be an ongoing process. It is erroneous to say – “let us accumulate the money and have the sum and then build it”. Each year an amount should be allocated to its construction. Yerevan city, having 200 billion budget, has a place to economize”, told Tigran Avinyan.
“It is possible to do such saving as to make building one metro station during 5 years possible. If they trust us the municipal authority, we will build one station until 2022, I announce with the highest responsibility”, noted Tigran Avinyan.
Referring to the net of public transport of the capital he stated his conviction implying that transport should not be a business: “It should belong to the municipality, meanwhile the transport lines belong to persons. Public transport is not a field to make money on.”
