The political analyst states that the OSCE can bring the sides to agreement, but Azerbaijan does not want a solution
“As long as Azerbaijan remains to its tough position, the negotiations will not bring to any positive solution. The main objective of this visit is the solution of interim issues: to prevent the systematic violation of ceasefire by Azerbaijan from leading to a wider conflict”, said political analyst Ara Papian referring to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ visit to Yerevan.
He pointed out the Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandyan’s remark done during the meeting with the OSCE Co-Chairs, that “there is developing a situation, where the co-chair countries should not only make statements, but also apply to specific actions, to restrain the destructive and provocative policy of Azerbaijan”.
“They can make addressed statements, as they did, but it hasn’t and will not restrain Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan aims at causing as many losses as possible through a creeping war. We should not expect actions from the co-chairs, since the OSCE is an intermediary mission. Punitive actions can be done only by the UN Security Council, which is also excluded. The OSCE can combine the attitudes of the Armenian and Azerbaijan sides, and to bring the sides to agreement, but it is obvious that Azerbaijan does not want a solution. This situation is favourable to it”, noted Ara Papian.
