“The situation of the negotiation process is changed. The position of Azerbaijan does not correspond to any document, be it Kazan or Madrid. Azerbaijan says – there should be not a sole Armenian in Nagorno-Karabakh and wants to solve this problem by means of war”, told international relations specialist Hovhannes Igityan, touching upon the question of the current phases of Artsakh conflict resolution negotiations. According to him, to resolve the conflict signifies to clear Karabakh from Armenians: “This is not possible to do by means of war. We can have a hundred victims thereby, two villages may be destroyed, but not more.”
The expert thinks that in the near future Azerbaijan will commence aggressions, but to what extent, it is difficult to say. As to the overview by Eduard Nalbandian during the meeting with the Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group as if it is time for the Chairs to start operations to restrain Azerbaijan, Hovhannes Igityan referred: “Azerbaijan declined the insertion of monitoring mechanisms. Political announcements should be made by the Chairs. If they do not have an influence then I do not exclude that they will try to promote the preservation of the ceasefire via peacekeeping forces.”
