The Republic of Armenia has submitted 359 application-complaints to the European Court of Human Rights on the crimes committed towards the civil persons and soldiers of Artsakh by Azerbaijan since April of 2016 until now: the number comprises 700 injured persons, the families of the killed soldiers encompassed, residents displaced from Talish and Mataghis, informs expert of international law, lawyer Ara Ghazaryan.
“The European Court of Human Rights very quickly communicated the two dozens of the cases which was unexpected to us. The ECHR understood that beheading is an extraordinary case and the Council of Europe cannot allow such cases to occur within its region”, he informs.
The expert notes that they have put a special emphasis on the violation of right to life of Artsakh residents by Azerbaijan in the application: “Imagine, the resident writes me a letter, implying that they hang the passports and the birth certificates of the children from the door handle in a plastic bag every day before going to bed, to quickly leave the house if necessary. They expect bombardments every day, but live heroically.”
