Since within the last week, media was frequently voicing the question whether what the law enforcement agencies have done to fight against corruption in the local self-governing bodies so far, I consider it necessary to note: “In 2017, Armenian competent authorities have initiated 34 criminal cases against community leaders on cases of official crimes.
Seven community leaders have already been involved as defendants in seven of the cases, four of the cases have been sent to the court as indictment in regard to four community leaders, and accusatory verdicts were made against two of those community leaders. Preliminary investigation of 15 criminal cases is still underway”.
