The first event under the Armenian Chairmanship in the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was held in Istanbul on January 24 with participation of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, representatives of the BSEC related bodies and the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat.
With reference to the Armenian Chairmanship Mr. Ashot Kocharian, Director of Bilateral and Multilateral Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, noted that Armenia as the BSEC Chairman-in-Office in the coming six months will focus on the importance of the economic cooperation in the BSEC area and will follow the process of implementation of the agreed agenda with the help of the existing mechanisms.
He presented to the participants the priorities of the Armenian Chairmanshipand conceptual issues, emphasizing that Armenia attaches importance to the promotion of regional economic cooperation, duly implementation of the BSEC economic agenda, improvement the efficiency, as well as the role and reputation of BSEC.
Ashot Kocharian stressed that further enhancement of cooperation with the BSEC related bodies, the observers, the sectoral dialogue partners and business circles is among the priorities of the Armenian Chairmanship.
As the outcome of the meeting the calendar of the six-months Armenian Chairmanship was approved which includes a range of events to be held in Armenia and BSEC member-states.
At the end of the meeting the Armenian delegation hosted a reception at the BSEC Headquarters.
