‘Whom else should police and NSS obey if not prime minister?’: Sharmazanov

March 07,2018 15:37

“As our dear Galust Sahakyan would say, closed-door does not mean secret”, touching upon holding closed-door government’s sessions, said Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, Eduard Sharmazanov.

Then he commented on the opposition’s claim that a “super-Prime-Minister” system was created under the new Constitution.

“There is no such concept even in the world. There is a parliamentary system according to which the “first violin” of the country is the prime minister. There is no country with a parliamentary system, where the main role does not belong to the prime minister”, Sharmazanov assured.

Speaking about whether why the police or the National Security Service must obey the prime minister, the National Assembly Vice Speaker noted: “Whom else should they obey? This raises the level of political responsibility of those structures before the prime minister. Pardon me, but to say that the NSS or police should obey not the prime minister but 18 ministries, is not effective”.
