The index of economic activity within January-February in this year was for 8.6 percent more than it was in the same period last year. This is reported by the National Statistical Service. The National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia published current-operational macroeconomic indexes.
Growth was also indicated in industrial production. The growth in this sector was 8.3 percent. In January and February, it amounted to 254 million drams. The volume of gross agricultural product, according to the data of the service, has dropped, amounting to 99.9 percent compared to January-February 2017. During the two months of this year, the volume has been 45 million 332.1 drams. Instead, the volume of construction increased by 22.7 percent. Construction volumes in Armenia in January-February 2018 amounted to 21 million 643 thousand drams. Compared to last year trade turnover increased by 17.4 percent up to 359 million 62.3 drams. The volume of services without trade increased by 15.1 percent. The volume of services within January-February in this year amounted to 225 million 686.2 drams.
The consumer price index was 103.1 percent. That is, in comparison with inflation of the last year, this year it amounted to 3.1 percent within the same months. Industrial product price index is 104.4 percent. Foreign trade turnover volume increased by 43.2 percent in January-February this year, amounting to 1 million 98 thousand dollars, and 512.4 billion in Armenian drams.
According to the same source, exports increased by 41 percent compared to the same period of the last year, amounting to 386.9 million dollars, or 186.4 billion drams.
Import increased by 44.4 percent. According to the National Statistical Service, imports totaled to 711.5 million dollars, or to 326 billion drams.
Dram exchange rate against US dollar in January-February has been 481.88 drams.
