Nikol Pashinyan, leader of “Make your step” movement, applied to famous Armenian artists worldwide to come to Yerevan and join the opposition movement. Factor.am got in touch with Canadian-Armenian film director Atom Egoyan trying to find out his opinion about Nikol Pashinyan’s urge and whether he is going to come to Armenia or not.
Egoyan asked to tell the people and particularly Nikol Pashinyan the following: “If these demonstrations were organized a year ago, not only we, but also hundreds of Armenians that came to supervise elections would join you. Even last year one could easily predict that Serzh Sargsyan will be appointed to rule the country. My whole heart and soul are there, but let me put this clear to you that the future of Armenia is not in the hands of Diaspora, it is in the hands of its citizens. Believe me, my beloved sisters and brothers, that every one of us that is abroad carefully watching your unbreakable determination that is a challenge for the authorities, this is exactly the life-giving force for the future.”
