These days I was frequently being asked: “Is it right that you have joined the movement?”, “Why do you not join it?” “And do you reject Serzh?” “Why do you write that you support neither Republicans nor Nikol”, etc. For not to answer everyone separately, let me mention at once, that I do not have an issue with joining or separating from anyone, I do not reject, admire anyone. I treat all political and non-political actors with respect. I see providing a balanced coverage and analysis of the events as my issue.
As I have already written for many times, I have concluded within my analyses that the only option for easing the situation was to elect Nikol Pashinyan as the PM and it gives a chance to reform the country. A chance, which we can use, but we can also miss. (By the way, the responsibility of missing the chance would be wrong to leave on one person.)
The manner in which the events are covered is a matter of style, naturally. For example, there are media groups which were advertising the armed attack on the police patrol regiment and were preaching the ideologies of the persons undertaken that action at the moment of the attacks (even after the murders) a year ago. There are media groups which only saw unlawfulness in the actions of the Police during the days of the revolution and did not see an endeavor to simply provide a normal traffic.
Everyone has their principles which deserve a respect. I try to avoid hate speech, one-sided propaganda, revenge through media and social networks, creating idols and monsters. Especially when the new PM insists that the page of hatred is closed for good.
The charter of one of the Buddhist monasteries constituted: “Do not lie to reach your goals! Do not pronounce words able to evoke disagreements and hostility! Do not spread news you are not sure about! Do not criticize and condemn for things you do not understand well! Always tell the truth, be friendly. Discuss cases of injustice fearlessly, even if such honesty can threaten your safety.” I do not know, perhaps that charter is applicable also in case of journalism to some extent.
