Game Rules Should Apply to All

May 22,2018 12:41

Oppositionist Nikol Pashinyan could say that there is no benefit from the Eurasian Economic Union (with which I agree), Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has to take into consideration the political realities. Oppositionist Mane Tandilyan was against mandatory funded pension, Minister of Social Affairs Mane Tandilyan understands that the state’s interests require that the system be implemented in some way.

What I say is not criticism, this change of view is very natural and is conditioned by the sense of responsibility of the new government. On the contrary, I expect a similar change to take place regarding the speedometers and bank loans.

I do not think that without the speedometers and cameras we’re lost, but I do not think that speedometers destroy our nation either. After all, there are many options to ensure traffic safety, and eventually the government will choose one of them. We are talking about another matter though: if this law is currently functioning, it should be encouraged, urged, advised to follow the current law. If the law is bad, you have all legal means to fight for change, publications, bills, demonstrations, marches, etc. To say that those who violate the law will not be punished, or the penalties for their violations will not be charged, it is a careless expression. Such hints, first of all, make the lawbreakers become more vicious.

Second, it is offensive to those citizens who have paid their fines. These fines must be returned to avoid discrimination. Moreover, it is offensive to those drivers who are so careful and cautious not to violate any rule, and who suffer because of the lawbreakers every day. It turns out that disciplined drivers were driving their cars normally in vain, they will no longer have any incentive to be disciplined because they and lawbreakers are treated equally.

Let me repeat that it is not about expediency or non-expediency of speedometers, the problem is that the rules of the game should apply to all citizens. The same can be said about bank interest rates. Why should not my interests be forgiven, but Paul’s or Peter’s be forgiven? Paul, Peter, and me have taken a loan by our free will, realizing the risks associated with that action, and we must pay the interest that is stated in our contracts. The government, the Central Bank, of course, should think of what to do so that we pay lower interest rates when we take a loan next time. In short, oblige to the laws that operate, and change the laws if they are bad.
