Is velvet revolution emerging in Artsakh?

May 30,2018 16:39

Today we were informed that “Light to Artsakh” initiative is undertaken in Artsakh. It initiates a unification and overthrow of the local authorities. The starter of the initiation is the former Member of the Parliament of Artsakh, Vahan Badasyan. Moreover, the brother of Vitali Balasanyan, the Secretary of the National Security Service of Artsakh, Vachik Balasanyan is also a member of the initiative. “It is a question to be cautious about, it can have rather dangerous consequences. Artsakh should remain untouched,” said the leader of the Republican Faction, Vahram Baghdasaryan, referring to the founding of the initiative.

The Republican MP believes, Artsakh should not be involved in the developments that took place in Armenia. He was not aware of the details of the functions of the initiative, but he calls on to show prospective approaches.

“We should give a real assessment to what can happen if the inner situation in Artsakh is shattered. I do not think there are grounds to start such actions in Artsakh,” said our interviewee, adding that it is normal when there are people discontented from the authority and that they should have objections: “The losers never accept their defeat. However, I do not think that intensifying Artsakh inner political situation is a right way.”

To the overview that perhaps the democratic processes will have a more positive influence on Artsakh issue resolution, Vahram Baghdasaryan responded – let us wait for the development of the events. However, as far as he is aware, there are no such issues in Artsakh and they cannot emerge either.
