Armen Sargsyan: ‘I have had a childhood of an ordinary Armenian child’

June 02,2018 14:39

On June 1, International Children’s Day, Armine Hovannisian, the founder of the “Orran” charitable organization, said during an interview that many of the “Orran” alumni have already become mothers and fathers. “We have grandchildren in “Orran” and I am very happy that they consider themselves members of the “Orran” family. We have had thousands of alumni, and now their number is 300, including the Yerevan and Vanadzor branches of “Orran”, said Mrs. Armine. At the invitation of Armine and Raffi Hovannisians, Armenian President Armen Sargsyan visited “Orran” with his wife Nune Sargsyan.

They enjoyed making hamburgers for the “Orran” children and the children hosted there. “I have had both bright and sad days during my childhood. It was a bright day, when my grandmother came to visit us from abroad in 1963… The saddest day was when my father left us. I have had a childhood of an ordinary Armenian child. I lived on Demirchyan Street in Kozern district, which is connected to the great philosopher and clergyman Hovhannes Kozern’s name”, said the President.

He also noted that because of business, unlike his wife, he spends less time with his grandchildren. “One thing is certain: when you become a grandfather, you appreciate and understand a little child more than when you are a father”, said the President.
