Physical laws are neutral to all sorts of moral, political, and “boyish” and household estimates. Gravity functions the same way in Yerevan and Glendale, affecting the good and bad people, the rich and the poor, the villains, and the benefactors. At about the same way I imagine the laws of the state. If, for example, illegal possession of weapons is condemnable in case of General Manvel, then it is equally condemnable in case of attackers of the Police regiment, as well as in case of Don Pipo, Tsarukyan, Aleksanyan, Ruben Hayrapetyan’s bodyguards and any other citizen. Expressions and judgments, such as good person-bad person, nation-devotee-scum of the nation, cannibal-humanitarian, rebel-non-rebel, “whatever we do, we do it for the people”, may seem interesting, but they cannot affect the application of the law.
If there is this consciousness, then we will truly live in a “new Armenia”. If there are “exceptions” for some reasons, we will continue to live in the “old Armenia”, where there will be the “caste” of those enjoying impunity, the most prominent representative of which is Manvel Grigoryan. The scenes and information spread by the National Security Service are shocking, but putting aside the righteous wrath, we must understand how this person has reached such a pathological condition, for this type of greed, lack of moral and sacred prohibitions cannot be “inborn”, it is a consequence of making “exceptions” for decades for those who have been “doing something for the nation”.
How did it happen that during the war the Armenian National Movement announced that it has a militarized wing? Can a party have a militarized wing? How did it happen that since 1994 the Yerkrapahs have been allowed to do everything, including beating and humiliating people, have been given “businesses” that they did not run by business laws at all? How did it happen that the Yerkrapahs took an active part in the violence during and after the 1996 elections? How did it happen that after October 27 everyone was waiting for the statement of Yerkrapahs against Kocharyan, and then Manvel Grigoryan became Deputy Defense Minister? How did it happen that in 2008, the opposition chanted “Man-vel, Man-vel”, hoping that the general would support the opposition? Finally, how did it happen that the person who is hated in whole Echmiadzin, became a member of the National Assembly? A criminal with such degree of impunity is not born without grounds.
