On July 8, “Golden Apricot” Yerevan international film festival was open for the 15th time. The opening film of the festival was “The House by the Sea” by Robert Guédiguian. The closing film will be Terry Gilliam’s “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote”.
Earlier the display of the posters of past 15 years had taken place in “Moscow” cinema.
Firstly the guests of the festival gathered at French Square. Red carpet is also one of the compulsory conditions of the festival’s opening ceremony.
The core opening ceremony took place at “Aram Khachaturian” concert hall. This year the first part of the festival was announced by loved opera singer Hasmik Papyan and director Vigen Chaldranyan, followed by youths.
It is known that the Feature Competition Jury will we presided by double Oscar winner, Cannes IFF prize winner, Asghar Farhadi. The Documentary Competition Jury is presided by Zhao Liang, the members are similarly famous professionals.
Among other celebrities, the Honorary Guests of “Golden Apricot” are director, producer and screenwriter, the Lauriat of Venice IFF, Darren Aronofsky, also directors Gianfranco Rosi, Sean Baker, Ulrich Seidl. The latter has been the long-hosted guest of “Golden Apricot” IFF.
