“It is an achievement for any country to have a film festival as “Golden Apricot”. “Yeva” has taken part in a row of international film festivals, but I am glad that it will be displayed in this festival as well,” informed director Anahit Abad in a press release on July 8.
She characterized her film as a result of 17 years of agitation, then referred to her visit to Artsakh and the prehistory of the idea of making the film.
During the press release they addressed the prohibition of the display of “Yeva” in Istanbul International Film Festival caused by the complaints of Azerbaijan. Anahit Abad reminded that the film was not displayed in Istanbul eventually, although it was included in the section of competitions. Besides, National Security forces of Turkey blocked the display of the film.
The Director informed that “Yeva” will be displayed in the cinemas of Iran in the near future. According to the actress playing the main character in the film, Narine Grigoryan, Yeva had taught her to overcome any given difficulty with dignity.
