After his inauguration, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the country is entering a new stage of history and shifting to the presidential government.
Erdogan’s inauguration ceremony took place on July 9. Turkish President arrived at the presidential palace with his wife, Emine. The inauguration ceremony was attended by leaders of 21 states, prime ministers and representatives of parliaments of 28 countries and leaders of 6 international organizations. Let us note that Azerbaijan took part in the ceremony by the representation of the Prime Minister.
“Today is one of the most important days in the history of our country. I thank all the citizens who have given me their vote and this serious position. We have been in politics for 40 years. During all this time, we have worked to serve our people. We have worked day and night. Here we start a new phase in our history, shifting to the presidential system. This is a new phase of a new Turkey. We say one nation, one country, one flag”, said Erdogan in his inauguration speech. He promised that “Turkey will be led by a strong government and a strong parliament”.
According to the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey, Erdogan received 52.59% of the votes in the presidential elections held on June 24. After his inauguration, the country will shift to presidential government system from parliamentary system.
