Plant opens in Armenia: 850 thousand dollars invested

“Business Armenia” signed a memorandum of cooperation, to invest 850 thousand dollars to open a new plant for production of stainless steel equipment. The construction of this new plant began in October 2017 in Kotayk region.

The completion of the construction works is expected in the upcoming month. The operation of the plant will open up 24 new vacancies. The founder of the plant is “Saltek” company, which has more than 40 years of experience. The products of the company are presented in more than 90 countries.

This memorandum of cooperation has been signed by Businessmen Support Group leader Hayk Mirzoyan on behalf of “Business Armenia”, and the executive director of “ARGA-Eurosteel” company Garen Salkhanian on behalf of the investor. This memorandum stipulates that support for the export promotion will be continued at the preliminary and subsequent stages of the implementation of the “Business Armenia” program.

“Import of production equipment and raw materials is expected for the next stage of the investments, during which state support will be made. It is expected that within several months the plant will start operating and producing stainless steel industrial ovens, industrial kitchen equipment”, said Armen Avak Avakian, executive director of “Business Armenia”.

In response to the question of whether how the investment situation has changed after the velvet revolution, he said that after the revolution the interest of investors has increased in our country. According to the executive director of “ARGA-Eurosteel” company Garen Salkhanian, “Currently, Armenian hotels, restaurants, cafes, schools, business centers import this equipment. Whereas our company will be certified by ISO9001 and ISO14001, OHSAS18001 standards and will be quite competitive in local and international markets. It is a good opportunity to replace imported products with our local ones”.

Hayk Mirzoyan noted that “Saltek” founded the Armenian plant jointly with the “Jiro Stainless Steel” company. He noted that the production of the plant will be exported to Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, and Iran.
