Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian colleague Alexander Lukashenko discussed their work involving the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the situation surrounding the Secretary-General of the CSTO, Yuri Khachaturov, while in Sochi. Lukashenko spoke about this in an interview on Belarusian television. Russian News Agency TASS provided the shorthand account of the interview.
“Our position is clear and understandable. We had another candidate in mind, but no one listened to us at the time,” Lukashenko said.
He informed that he and Putin “looked deeply into the issue from the point of view of the new Armenian government and the politics that Nikol Pashinyan and his government use.”
“We discussed our mutual activities in the CSTO and the problems the CSTO faces that its members are responsible for,” Lukashenko said.
