September 27,2018 15:05

In September, the Armenian capital of Yerevan hosted a Horizon 2020 info day and a workshop, bringing together the country’s researchers to discuss their participation in the biggest EU research and innovation programme.

The event was organised by the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and aimed to improve the participation of Armenian researchers in the widening actions of Horizon 2020.

The widening programme of Horizon 2020 was created to address the causes of low participation in research and innovation projects by fully exploiting the potential of Europe’s talent pool.

Participants of the event in Yerevan had the chance to engage in various interactive exercises, where they were put in the role of proposal evaluators. They were able to conduct an in-depth analysis of real proposal evaluations and examine the various strengths and weaknesses. This will help Armenian researchers to deduce what could be improved in their own future proposals.

Armenia joined Horizon 2020 in 2016 as an associated country. Its researchers and scientists are eligible to apply for the opportunities offered by the programme and compete with their counterparts from the EU and all other associated countries.
