September 27,2018 15:39

“The American side was prepared, but the meeting did not take place because of the shortness of Trump’s and Pashinyan’s agendas. There will be opportunities to meet in the future, and the work to plan these meetings continues,” Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tigran Balayan said to reporters regarding why Pashinyan and Donald Trump did not meet during the UN Grand Assembly session in New York.

Regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin’s possible visit to Armenia, Balayan said that they are confirming the time frame. “Both sides have confirmed that such a visit is in the works. It will be an official visit. The work to plan this visit continues.”

Tigran Balayan also spoke about Azerbaijani social and political workers who live in Russia, who have made pro-Armenian statements and are now subject to political pursuits and persecution led by Azerbaijan. According to Balayan, if they come to Armenia and apply for asylum, the MFA will definitely consider their applications.
