Islamic preacher wanted by Turkey, American resident, billionaire Fetullah Gulen’s brother, Kutbettin Gulen, was sentenced to ten years and six months in prison. The decision was made by the serious crimes court in Izmir.
Kutbetin Gulen was arrested in Turkey as a result of investigations carried out against the members of the Gulen movement in 2016.
He was accused of promoting the Gulen movement and inciting hatred within the people.
When he was taken into custody, he was working for the famous Turkish “Kaynak” holding’s “Caglayan” publishing house. According to Turkish media, the holding was being controlled by members of the Gulen movement.
Gulen’s brother did not accept the accusation against him and demanded that he be released. He said that his health was poor. However, the court rejected his demand and left the decision unchanged.
Fetullah Gulen is accused by the Turkish government of an attempt at starting an armed revolution on July 15, 2016. The Turkish government has been demanding that the USA extradite Gulen for two years, but Washington has not found the demand to be sufficient.
