Rustamyan on Pashinyan: ‘On one hand he announces that we don’t interfere, but he was informed that bribes took place’

October 27,2018 13:37

Reporters asked head of the ARF faction Armen Rustamyan which deputy he thought Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was referring to when he said that lots of bribes took place, which was fully proven, but they are waiting for documents from overseas.

Rustamyan said that on one hand, Pashinyan announces that the government does not interfere in court processes or investigations, but he was almost completely informed about what was taking place and what is getting in the way of the issue being brought onto the agenda. “I cannot say who Pashinyan was talking about, but if we are to speak of the fact that the prime minister himself made the announcement, of course, it should be clear that no deputy is immune and that their office should not be an opportunity for them to break the law. If such a crime is presented and we have every right to believe that it did indeed take place, we will not interfere. We won’t interfere now so that the investigation can completely uncover everything.”

He excluded the possibility of Pashinyan referring to any of the ARF deputies.

Reporters asked him if he thought that being aware of a crime taking place means to interfere, since everyone has to report to the prime minister and he has to be informed. What was the issue he saw here? Rustamyan said, “I understand that the prime minister needs to be informed of everything more so than anyone else, but knowing what is proving a problem for the National Assembly is a different issue.”
