The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia has not made any agreements with Sweden about purchasing the JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft. Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan spoke about to reporters about how there is information spreading across the media that Armenia will be purchasing the aircraft. He informed that negotiations are taking place with Sweden. “We are carefully examining all priorities. We are making appropriate decisions based on quality, price, and supply time limits. We have another offer from another nation that we are closely studying, and we will make a decision soon,” Davit Tonoyan said.
He neither confirmed nor denied whether the offer is from Russia. “The decision has been made. We are making financial-technical decisions now.” The acting Defense Minister did not find it appropriate to explain what decision he was referring to.
