“The results of what will happen on December 9th are already very clear and have already been decided upon. The entire problem is what will happen afterwards. That is what will decide future developments in our country,” Expert from the Armenian Institute of International and Security Affairs (AIISA), political analyst Ruben Mehrabyan told reporters.
According to him, making any predictions is not necessary to understand that the My Step alliance will be winning in a landslide and will comprise the constitutional majority. “A constitutional majority will be formed in the new National Assembly, which will depend on the constitutional majority. It will receive the widest and strongest legitimate mandate from Armenian citizens in order to carry out its future activities. The rest of the issues only present athletic interest, since the rest of the political forces can- if we look at it rationally- pursue one thing: in the case of alliances, seven, in the case of political parties, five, percent of the problem. Laying claim to anything else given the current situation is impossible.”
Regarding the ‘Nikol for Prime Minister’ slogan, Ruben Mehrabyan said, “It’s clear that Nikol will become Prime Minister, there are no doubts about that. The issue is what Nikol Pashinyan will do afterwards. What will he do in the economic sector? What will he do for foreign policy? What will he do for changes in the state system? How will changes in different divisions and subdivisions be carried out? What conceptual basis will these changes be carried out on?”
When asked how he would comment on the participation of Sasna Tsrer in the elections, Ruben Mehrabyan replied, “It is one of eleven forces. It will participate, and there will be people who will vote for it.”
Speaking about the RPA’s chances, Ruben Mehrabyan said, “I do not think that the RPA will be able to reach the five percent mark in this system. In my subjective opinion, I think that Prosperous Armenia has the highest chance of being the second force in parliament.”
