Head of the Office of the President of Artsakh Davit Babayan informed that after Nikol Pashinyan’s and Ilham Aliyev’s agreement to decrease tension at the border and to prevent incidents, the border has been incomparably calm.
“The border has been incomparably calm after that agreement was made, but Azerbaijan is not a country we can trust because it may violate the ceasefire and take unconstructive steps at the worst and most unexpected moment. Sometimes such things happen. After some time of peace, it violated the ceasefire again lately, but this is not news. We do not need to cause a stir over this. Sometimes they fire out of fear or to simply create tension. We don’t pay attention to such instances, but if they do take actions that could be presented as serious threats for our positions and our soldiers, we take the necessary steps,” Davit Babayan said.
According to him, Azerbaijan is trying to bring several of its positions forward in certain areas. They are also making movements in some of their positions. Sometimes they fail, but. “We uphold the ceasefire and we try not to let the enemy improve its positions at our expense. Especially during the holidays, our soldiers are doubly, triply careful. They typically carry out more drastic measures during that time.”
