On April 10th, My Step deputy Narine Tukhikyan asked head of the National Commission on Television and Radio Tigran Hakobyan about ceasing or limiting broadcasting of the “Rossia” television channel due to the fact that it periodically broadcasts anti-Armenian news. Tigran Hakobyan agreed that it is anti-Armenian, but we may need to pay a high price in order to do that. Ukraine and Georgia, for example, gave up territory when they ceased or limited the broadcasting of Russian news. Is Armenia prepared to pay such a price?
What territory would we need to give up in this instance? Which document states that Armenia would have to give up territory for stopping the broadcasting of a channel that poses a danger to information security? Is there a real danger that the Russian 102nd Military Base in Gyumri will carry out aggressive actions against Armenia if the Russian channel stops being broadcasted? What would resolve the information security issue in Armenia the fastest: stopping or limiting the broadcast of anti-Armenian channels?
