August 08,2019 21:32

Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission Garegin Baghramyan told reporters in a briefing after a session of government that there will be massive decreases in the prices of mobile plans in Armenia and Artsakh. He said that the prices of these plans now are currently high and they will frequently decrease. “The prices of Beeline and Ucom plans have decreased starting on August 1st.”

According to Baghramyan, calls made from Artsakh will decrease from 38 AMD per minute to 29 AMD starting on January 1st, and from 2021 the price will drop to 27 AMD. “Calls to Artsakh will drop from 25 AMD to 15 AMD, and then to 13 AMD in the future. There will also be massive decreases in the price of mobile Internet plans. The current price of 45 AMD will drop to 22 AMD starting on January 1st.”

In response to the observation that it was possible to decrease the prices of tariffs, but business owners who had monopolies did not do so in order to make money off of the people, he said, “We are currently negotiating with the company that holds a monopoly in Artsakh and with our own operators.”

When asked if roaming will be eliminated completely, Baghramyan replied, “We are going to make sure that there is one unified price.”

He said that negotiations will continue shortly and the time frames for everything will become clearer when agreements are signed.

Investments are being made in Artsakh according to Baghramyan, and investments are also being made in 3G networks.
